RantsThe Rant

A "rant" is a rant,
He'd always believed,
But the old man's "suggestions"
Caused the girl to be peeved.

"I was trying to help,
A suggestion my dear",
But she just didn't get it
Or just didn't hear.

"Your suggestion I call ranting
And we just can't have that.
Big deal, you're a Member;
Here's your coat and your hat."

"It wasn't a rant"
The old man replied
"My suggestions still stand
I have nothing to hide".

His list of suggestions
Had fallen on deft ears.
He folded the paper
And wiped off his tears.

Into his pocket
He placed all his "rants",
Now no one can tell
He had rants in his pants.

Makes me think of a child's crib, or a cathedral. Or a flower in a cage of sorts, like the rose in the glass case from "Beauty and the Beast".
