[Is there really deliverance?]

Is there really deliverance?
Can anyone really tell time?
What if anything ever makes sense?
Brother, can you spare a dime?

I once met a man from Seattle;
He cried as he spoke to me.
He lost his son in a battle,
So all of his friends could be free.

My neighbor has so much money;
He spends it as fast as he can.
You know, it's really quite funny;
He thinks that heís Peter Pan.

A child suffers from cancer;
A rich man lives on a Yacht.
Does anyone have the answer?
Who in hellís going to rot?

Why is there so much sorrow?
Why does the victim pay?
If there is a God for tomorrow,
Is there a God for today?

6 million Jews are cremated;
A blind man holds out his cup.
What kind of world was created?
Will the real God please stand up.

Death is a very dark bedroom;
The boogie manís under the bed.
Gentile or Jew,
Heís waiting for you,
Heíll decide when youíre better off dead.

I wrote this when I was angry at God; what else can I say. Included it in a poetry reading at Barnes & Noble - 1995.

It hits hard.

Good poem. And yes, it does hit hard. I too go round and round like that in my head at times. But I always have to come back to God knows what God knows, and He will allow me the answers in His own time, especially if I care enough to ask the questions. No matter how awful my life (which has been so awful so awful, and yet so beautiful) I cling to my faith and to my love and to my hope and try to do what I can for other people and wait for any answers I will not have in this life, then in the next. That's as far as I can go in this... but it's so much better than not going at all. Yes? No? Maybe? :)

I totally agree. He has a plan and I think everything has it's reason to be. And yes, we don't always know the reasons but I have faith that the reasons are ultimately good and someday it will all be made clear to us.

Thanks for reading and for your comment. :-)

Actually I am a Christian, was mainly a time in my life that all I saw around me was people suffering and the rich getting richer. I believe I now have a better understanding of it all now.

Glad you liked the poem. I love writing as much as doing my art. :-)
