Well, still learning Bryce. Spent all day on this. :-( Happy about some parts, not so happy with others. Overall, satisfied with my progress.

Thanks. I really hate the buildings and mountain but decided to post all my 3D as I learn to show others that we all need to start from the beginning and it takes time to develop and get good. I haven't even scratched the surface but I will keep at it.

I like this one better than the last. The colors are a bit more mellow and nicer on my eyes.

Thanks. This was done mainly as an exercise to learn Bryce 5. I've put most of my 3D pieces in my scraps and have started to be more focused with the art I want to create in 3D.

It really is a whole different world working with 3D, isn't it? I'm way too much of a coward to even try. Kudos on what you're doing ;)

Yes, it really is. Requires more planning and patience than fractal art. I have sooooo much to learn. I decided to let it all hang out and post stuff as I went, hopefully to show others that we are not good from the start, it takes a lot of time and effort to be good at anything. So go for it! :-)

I understand you Tom. It's not easy to go against 'procastination'
that's always the stumbling block in doing art. It's always up to the person.
I commend you on that. Your welcome Tom. :D

I know what you are saying Tom...the building on the island lacked the detail we are use to seeing in your work(i hope that didn't sound too harsh  ). It just needed something unique to make it stand out. The water and sky WERE perfection though so I foresee future great works!
This program you are using is new to you, right? If this is what you can do with this new program so far , then I can't wait to see what you do with it in a month!!!
i'll be eagerly awaiting all new deviations...

Thanks, yes I have only had the prgm a couple of weeks or so. I've put this and most of my other 3D stuff in scraps. I will still occasionally post my fractals though.

No, No! PLEEEESE always comment honestly. I REALLY hated some of the first 3D. I know that we can't be good from the start but I hated that I POSTED everything in my gallery. Should have submitted it in "scraps" initially. I need to take the next step and create my own shapes. It is always good to get suggestions/feedback such as yours. Don't be sorry. Really.

Best regards, Tom

I am really enjoying watching your progress with Bryce, Tom! (your so getting a feel of it faster than me hahahaha) Things can only get better as you continue working with it and exploring with it. I love this sci fi piece. Its wonderfully thought out and creative. Very unique. I especially like the water. Great reflections, movement, weight, feel. Looking good my friend, looking good. Keep it up, I cant wait to see more!

Thanks very much. The water and sky are the easiest to get realistic. Landscape is tougher. But I'm working at it. :-)

Hope you won't mind a little critiquing.

Plusses: The island looks pretty cool, the square buildings look okay with that texture, the sphere construction thing looks neat. And I like your use of non-standard skies. This particular one strikes me as very moody.

Minuses: The same texture unfortunately doesn't work as well applied to the sphere, IMO, and your light beam... well, it was a while before I realized that's what it was, I just thought your cloud layer was messed up. (Maybe use the edge softening on that light cone? I assume it's a light set to be a visible object) Also, I would want to zoom in closer and check where those trees are... it looks like the rightmost tree is more or less completely removed from the ground.

Thanks very much for your critique! I think you are right on with all of it. I really hate the buildings and the mountain texture. Just looks too phoney. I really appreciate that you took the time to help.

Yay for Primitives! I get seriously carried away with boolean functions on Primitives - all my Sci-Fi stuff is done that way!

It's good. I suggest you try working with a more realistic type of touch.

I would love to see you do something that shows a busy working city.

But great job nevertheless.
